Hailing all the way from South Korea the Samsung Galaxy S5 has received mixed comments. Some say it’s a force to be reckoned with others describe it as somewhat of a Diet version to other top quality handsets.
Samsung have definitely improved on their earlier S4 model in almost every criteria possible. It is sleek and sophisticated but the new design is really just a rehash of their others, nothing too experimental to be found here.
If you are the kind of person who has a habit of dropping your phone, then the Galaxy S4 could be what you are looking for. It’s a lot sturdier than other handsets on the market but still could use a rubber shock absorbent case, incase of really high falls. On a sweeter note though, it is waterproof for 30 minutes up to 30m below sea level and dust proof to an IP67 rating meaning it’s pretty much indestructible. What a relief for those who use their phone in the bath! Just make sure, if you have removed the back cover for any reason, that you have securely clipped it back on otherwise if your phone happens to take an unwitting liquid dip, this will void the waterproof capabilities of your mobile and the inside will get mighty soggy.
The S4 is quicker on the ball, has a brighter display and also the camera quality is much better, providing you with a much more enjoyable experience when taking photographs and making videos and lessens the chance of blurred photographs by miles.
Samsung have even worked on speeding up the S4’s Internet connectivity, which I’m definitely not complaining about.
The screen is slightly bigger than the previous model which is great, but because Samsung boasted so much about the quality of their new screen I have to admit I’m a little disappointed by it. The fact is, it has been made bigger but there hasn’t been an upgrade in terms of resolution. This means that the overall resolution has actually gone done minutely. Don’t get me wrong, the display is still brilliantly precise, just not the whole shebang I was expecting this time round.
I really am loving the finger print scanner. Although some people may find it a little fiddly at first, it works excellently and gives you a little more peace of mind where security is concerned. Although, it does make it easier to shop online and pay for your purchases using Pay pal. As convenient as it may be, who needs spending to be any easier when times are hard?
Over all this nearly indestructible piece of kit is a winner in my eyes.
